MSC to establish container terminal in Aarhus
Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) will establish a new container terminal at Aarhus Harbor, as per an agreement to rent a portion of the port. This deal marks the end of APM Terminals’ exclusive container operations at the harbor. MSC, the world’s largest container shipping line, has over 850 ships and 200,000 employees. The new terminal is expected to enhance Denmark’s logistics capabilities, increase trade options, and strengthen national supply chains, benefiting the entire country. Previously, Maersk had tried to prevent such agreements through legal action. MSC, already with a Danish head office in Aarhus, plans to introduce a direct mainline to Asia next year. The dedicated MSC terminal, operated by Terminal Investment Limited (TIL), will span approximately 170,000 square meters and is due to be operational by 2027. Founded in Brussels in 1970, MSC has grown into a global entity with container shipping, cruise lines, and ferries.
