Putin endorses US ceasefire proposal with reservations

Russian President Vladimir Putin has conditionally agreed to a ceasefire in Ukraine, stating that it is the right course of action, but further discussions on various issues are necessary before committing. His comments follow a US-proposed 30-day ceasefire presented earlier in a meeting with Ukraine. Putin suggested the need for a ceasefire to lead to lasting peace and address the conflict’s original causes. However, the specific conditions for Russia’s agreement are unclear. Putin expressed openness to the idea and mentioned possibly discussing it with President Trump. Meanwhile, Russia claims to fully control the situation in Ukraine’s Kursk region. At the same time, NATO’s actions are considered hostile by Russia and Belarus, raising the risk of direct conflict between nuclear powers.
