DAO wins Denmark’s postal service tender
Danish Newspaper Delivery (DAO) has been awarded the contract to distribute materials for the blind, marking the first tender after Denmark’s new postal agreement. Transport Minister Thomas Danielsen emphasizes the responsible use of taxpayer money and the benefits of competition in the postal sector. The new postal law, effective from the new year, terminated the previous service obligation of PostNord and led to free competition in the postal market without the previous annual financial aid. DAO, expressing readiness to vie for mail delivery rights in June, now adds up to 600,000 annual shipments for the blind to its current operations, including 11 million letters and nationwide package delivery. Most materials for the blind are from Nota, serving those with reading impairments.
