FE targets overtime control by 2027
Denmark’s Defence Intelligence Service (FE) is close to resolving violations of employment and wage regulations, except for ongoing overtime issues. The National Audit Office’s follow-up report reveals an arrangement with an employee to reduce accumulated hours by 2027. An initial report in June showed FE management of pay and employment was subpar. A sample found infractions in 6 of 15 executive cases, one involving overpayment of about DKK 130,000 over 18 months. Corrections have since been made; a review of five executives’ salaries confirms compliance. However, overtime issues persist, with breaches in 8 of 13 reviewed cases. Although partial progress is made, FE has yet to fully address owed or unclaimed overtime. Rigsrevisionen acknowledges minor ongoing breaches but deems FE’s employment and wage practices largely compliant. Following these findings, the Ministry of Defence intensified oversight of FE, but it’s unclear if this scrutiny continues.
