240,000 back satire for Danish acquisition of California

The satirical website denmarkification.com, playing on Trump’s slogan ‘Make America Great Again’, has garnered the symbolic support of about a quarter million people for Denmark’s mock attempt to buy California. The creator, Xavier Dutoit, aimed to highlight the absurdity of Trump’s idea to purchase Greenland. Danish spokesperson Kenneth Haar doesn’t expect Danish flags to actually fly in Hollywood, but hopes to attract significant attention, even possibly a question at a White House press briefing. The website humorously lists reasons why California would be a perfect fit for Denmark, citing the need for ‘hygge’, a better healthcare system, and renaming Disneyland to H.C. Andersen-land as potential perks. Dutoit offered to stop the campaign if Trump abandons his plans to make Greenland American.
