Royal House to disclose Gift Registry
The Danish royal family has announced a new initiative to disclose a list of gifts received by its members. This update is detailed on the royal house’s website amidst revisions to their gift-receiving guidelines. Gifts will be disclosed in the royals’ annual report, along with the description, donor, and occasion. However, gifts with ‘modest economic value’ or personal gifts from family and friends will not be listed. This first release of gift details is scheduled for August 2024, covering the first half of the year. A lack of transparency in royal gift reception has been subject to criticism, with the organization Transparency International Denmark concerned about the negative implications of receiving significant undisclosed gifts from private entities.
