Foodora exits Danish market
Foodora, the meal delivery service, has announced its withdrawal from the Danish market, despite operating in Denmark only since late 2022. The company will continue to operate until a final closing date is announced. Despite growth over the last 18 months, macroeconomic changes are causing Foodora to reallocate resources to other active markets. Dialogues with affected employees will initiate today. Owned by Delivery Hero, which also acquired Hungry.dk in 2021, Foodora operates in multiple countries. The service is available through an app, similar to competitors like Wolt and Just Eat. Previously, Foodora’s Danish country chief, Oliver Frost, expressed the ambition to lead the market but recognized challenges such as inflation. In the 2022 financial report, Foodora Denmark disclosed a loss of 55 million DKK, attributed to the transition from Hungry.dk and promotional expenses for the rebranding.
