Danish authority warns against feeding wolves

Denmark’s Environmental Protection Agency warns photographers not to feed wolves to lure them for pictures, as this can cause wolves to associate humans with food, leading to dangerous situations. Jens Skovager Østergaard from the agency stresses the importance of preserving wolves’ natural wariness of humans to prevent them from becoming ‘problem wolves’ who may exhibit aggressive behavior or pose safety risks. The warning is particularly relevant now as young wolf pups, more susceptible to becoming accustomed to humans than adults, are venturing into the landscape. As of July, Denmark had eight wolf pairs with at least six litters of pups. Feeding wolves can inadvertently harm them, attract rats, and erode their natural respect for people.
