Social Democrats present tax cuts
The Danish government has introduced tax cuts totaling over one billion kroner in a significant business proposal, acknowledging that such cuts would not have occurred under a sole Social Democratic administration. Skatteminister Jeppe Bruus admitted they didn’t initiate the plan but agreed to it as a compromise between the coalition parties: Socialdemokratiet, Venstre, and Moderaterne, established in the December 2022 government agreement. The tax cuts include reducing inheritance and gift tax from 15% to 10% for family business transfers. Despite the Social Democrats’ stance that the measures weren’t their top priority, ministers defended the policy as a wise compromise promoting Denmark’s advancement. Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen emphasized joint responsibility over individual party contributions to the government’s actions.
