Brazil-Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin is invited to next year’s G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said on Monday during a visit to Berlin. However, the Brazilian president cannot guarantee that Putin will not be arrested as a result of an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC). “Will he be arrested when he arrives? Maybe, maybe not,” Lula said, according to DPA. “The judiciary will decide that,” Lula continued. The ICC has accused Putin of illegal deportations of children in Ukraine. While the United States and Russia have not acceded to the Rome Statute, which is the legal foundation of the ICC, Brazil has done so. /ritzau/
