More than 100 police officers in London have renounced their firearms licences following the murder charge against a police officer, a source told the BBC. They are concerned after a colleague was charged with killing a man who died last year from shots fired at the car he was in. Most officers in the UK do not routinely carry firearms. These are reserved for officers with special training. More than 100 of them are now protesting. During the period that officers refuse to carry out tasks with weapons, the Ministry of Defence plans to call on soldiers to help with certain tasks when needed. /ritzau/
