In future, the Sunni movement Hizb-ut-Tahrir will be banned from holding meetings and other activities in Britain, according to the government that has tabled a proposal to ban the movement on the grounds that it is a terrorist organisation. The proposal is set out in a press release from the UK Home Office. Home Secretary James Cleverly points out that Hizb-ut-Tahrir is, in his view, an anti-Semitic movement. “Hizb-ut-Tahrir is an anti-Semitic organisation that actively promotes and encourages terrorism, including by celebrating the horrific attacks of October 7,” he said. /ritzau/
