First rise in job vacancies in 7 quarters

Denmark experienced an increase in job vacancies for the first time in seven quarters, with a gain of 1,400 positions in Q1 2022 resulting in 51,200 available jobs after seasonal adjustments. Employment hit a record of 3,016,400 individuals in March, with 32,400 jobs added over the year and growth in most recent months. Unemployment has remained largely stable in early 2022, following a previous upwards trend. Economists from Arbejdernes Landsbank and Dansk Metal attribute the job market strength to robust economic growth, noting a rise in manufacturing output and improving purchasing power. This may deepen the labor shortage, particularly as industries like non-pharmaceutical manufacturing compete fiercely for workers. Region Hovedstaden leads with the most job vacancies, while Region Nordjylland has the least.
