Hjort and Findsen voice concerns to government
Former Defense Minister Claus Hjort Frederiksen and dismissed Defense Intelligence Service chief, Lars Findsen, have expressed deep concerns regarding the government’s proposed expansion of the inquiry into the FE case. In their communication to Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard and the parliamentary Judiciary Committee, they criticize the secrecy of the commission established by the proposed legislation, fearing it won’t fully uncover the facts of the case. They argue that the commission’s mandate to investigate ‘improper considerations’ in their previous charges is too narrow. The closed proceedings of the commission would not serve the public’s interest in understanding the FE case’s failures. Findsen, previously detained for 70 days on charges of leaking classified information, and Hjort Frederiksen, charged with disclosing state secrets, had their cases dropped in November 2023. Both have since heavily criticized the handling of their cases.
