Putin warns West against allowing Ukraine’s attacks

President Vladimir Putin warns NATO member states against allowing Ukraine to use Western-supplied weapons to target Russia, stating it risks sparking a global conflict. According to Reuters, during his visit to Uzbekistan this week, Putin emphasized concerns about long-range weapons being used deep inside Russia. The warning follows NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg’s suggestion that the USA and EU NATO countries reconsider their bans on Ukraine launching strikes in Russia. Putin calls for a reconsideration of the restrictions accompanying weapon deliveries to Ukraine, stressing the serious consequences for Europe and questioning the United States’ response in case of a global conflict. He also cautioned smaller, densely populated countries to be mindful of their actions and indicated the West would play a direct role in any Ukrainian attacks with long-range weapons requiring satellites, intelligence, and military assistance. When asked about Ukraine’s President Zelenskyj’s legitimacy, Putin recognized only Ukraine’s parliament as a legitimate authority.
