Royal family slashes patronage ties
The Danish Royal Family has significantly reduced the number of patronages held by its members following the change in monarchy on January 14th. King Frederik, Queen Mary, and Queen Margrethe’s patronages and honorary positions were revoked. The family announced which patronages will continue and their distribution. Out of the 258 patronages managed before, 116 will not carry on, leaving 140 active. King Frederik takes on 14 of Queen Margrethe’s former patronages, related historically to the monarchy, adds six new ones, and retains eight, bringing his current total to 28. Queen Margrethe keeps 20 of her 81 patronages, focusing on the arts, history, and archaeology. Queen Mary inherits three from Queen Margrethe, keeps 16 previous ones, and takes on five new ones, including Danish Hospital Clowns and the Danish Nature Fund.
