Security Council to convene after attack on children’s hospital

The UN Security Council is summoned to discuss a Russian attack that destroyed Kyiv’s main children’s hospital, killing at least 36 civilians in several cities with missile strikes, including at least two at the hospital. The attack, which occurred in broad daylight, also injured many, leaving parents with babies and young children distraught outside the ruined facility. Additionally, another hospital and power stations were struck. Kyiv’s mayor described the attack as one of the worst since the Russian invasion began almost two and a half years ago. In eastern Ukraine, three deaths occurred in Pokrovsk and one in Dnipro. Elisabeth Haslund from UNHCR experienced the attack from a shelter and reported it as the worst since her arrival last September. President Zelensky confirmed over 40 missiles were launched, heavily damaging the important Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital.
