Boys and men claim mosque assault was self-defense

During trial at Frederiksberg Court, two boys, 16, along with an 18-year-old and a 61-year-old man—all connected to Dortheavej Mosque in Copenhagen—are accused of violent assault and knife attack on a 27-year-old man, resulting in life-threatening injuries and fractures. The 16-year-old, defended by Karoline Normann and not previously convicted, admits to stabbing but claims self-defense. A surveillance video from the mosque shows the incident unfolding, including the use of gardening tools and a spade as weapons prior to the stabbing. The assault was allegedly prompted by the victim’s ‘disruptive’ behavior at the mosque the previous day. The trial is set to span several days in September.
