Capital fund plans to sell Lakrids by Bülow
Swedish capital fund Valedo Partners is reportedly looking to sell the confectionery company Lakrids by Bülow, according to unnamed sources familiar with the process speaking to Børsen. The company’s chairman Tue Mantoni neither confirmed nor denied the information, acknowledging the nature of capital funds to not remain majority owners indefinitely, but did not specify the timing. Founded in 2007 by Johan Bülow, who is now the creative director, the company changed its name from Lakrids By Johan Bülow in 2017, reflecting an international expansion. Valedo Partners acquired a 75% stake in 2016. The latest financial report from 2023 showed a new sales record with a turnover of 319 million Danish kroner, slightly exceeding the previous year. The company had retail stores in several countries, and around 2000 dealers across 25 countries selling its products. The 2024 annual report has not been released yet.
