State aid fuels surge in electric trucks
Denmark is set to deploy 124 new electric trucks after a funding pool of 73 million Danish kroner was quickly allocated to support the purchase of these trucks and the creation of charging stations. Transport Minister Thomas Danielsen notes the unprecedented level of funding and suggests the possibility of similar future initiatives. The uptake of electric trucks is expected to rise from currently being less than 10% of new sales. The Ministry believes half of the country’s truck driving could be electrified with today’s charging infrastructure. Major companies such as DSV and Stark have benefited from the fund, which requires a signed truck purchase agreement before year-end. Danielsen also remarks on the industry’s shift towards green transition, as evidenced by electric trucks now prominently featured in transport fairs.
