Nearly 500 Danish clients affected by Nordnet security flaw
Around 500 of Nordnet’s 540,000 active Danish customers experienced a security breach on Tuesday. According to Nordnet, the issue did not result in any unauthorized trading or withdrawal of funds from affected accounts. The breach occurred when users could access other users’ accounts due to a software component failure during the login process. Nordnet shut down their website and app as a precaution and has been in contact with all affected clients. They reported only one incident of a non-Danish customer placing an order on another’s account, which has been reversed. No economic losses were reported by customers as a result. Lars-Åke Norling, director of Nordnet, apologized and assured such an error would not happen again. The Swedish Data Protection Authority will determine if there will be any consequences for the breach.
