Increase in calls about violence in youngest students

Over the past three to four years, there has been an increase in calls to the Parents’ Advisory Council regarding violent incidents and boundary-crossing actions among schoolchildren, particularly in the early grades. Rasmus Edelberg, the national chairman of School and Parents, notes that such incidents are surprisingly occurring among the youngest students, who are generally perceived as easy to manage. Although no increase in reports after specific cases at Borup School and Agedrup School, parents contact the advisory about once a month with severe cases involving repeated violence. Many parents report classroom disturbances which could indicate student distress. Edelberg emphasizes the need for enhanced pedagogical environments and a smooth transition from kindergarten to school to ensure children’s well-being.
