Biden to convene with governors post-debate

President Joe Biden is scheduled to meet with Democratic governors on Wednesday, following his debate performance against ex-President Trump. CBS News and a White House official have confirmed the meeting, which seeks to ensure the governors of Biden’s robust health and mental state. The debate in question was the first of two before the November presidential election. The gathering, likely mostly virtual, comes amid calls from Congressman Lloyd Doggett for Biden to step down from the presidential race. Initially, Vice President Kamala Harris was to speak with the governors, but they insisted on direct communication with Biden. Biden’s campaign also aims to quell resignation demands and reaffirm allegiance from party loyalists during separate political leader meetings this week. Both parties have yet to formally nominate their candidates, with conventions scheduled for July and August.
