Initially, Vice President Kamala Harris was to speak with the governors, but they insisted on direct communication with Biden. Biden’s campaign also aims to quell resignation demands and reaffirm allegiance from party loyalists during separate political leader meetings this week. Both parties have yet to formally nominate their candidates, with conventions scheduled for July and August.
