Mette F. in Berlin: Russian hybrid attacks in the Baltic

Danish prime minister Mette Frederiksen arrived in Berlin to meet with German chancellor Olaf Scholz, addressing Europe’s ‘more uncertain reality’ and citing Russian hybrid attacks in the Baltic Sea without detailing specific incidents. Frederiksen called for a stronger, more decisive Europe, notably through bolstering the European defence industry. Her European tour, beginning in Berlin and continuing to Paris and Brussels, focuses on ‘European solidarity’. Amidst talks, no mention was made of U.S. president Donald Trump’s interest in Greenland, which Denmark and Greenland firmly reject. Scholz referenced the recent focus on the Baltic due to repeated sabotage of critical infrastructure and highlighted the threat posed by the ‘Russian shadow fleet’. Consequently, NATO has increased its presence in the area, with Denmark contributing ships, fighter jets, and special forces.
