Nearly 500 dead in Israeli strikes in Lebanon

Israeli attacks in Lebanon since Monday morning have resulted in at least 492 fatalities and at least 1645 injuries, according to the Lebanese health ministry. The casualties include 35 children and 58 women. It is the deadliest assault on Lebanon since the end of the 15-year civil war in 1990, notes a government spokesperson. The attacks have caused tens of thousands to flee, says Lebanon’s minister for crisis management, Nasser Yassin. The Israeli military claims to have hit 1300 Hezbollah targets in less than 24 hours, targeting what they describe as ‘terror infrastructure.’ The Israeli spokesperson Daniel Hagari advised Southern Lebanese civilians to avoid Hezbollah-connected areas for their safety. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated Israel would continue strikes until Israelis can return home safely. Following a series of explosions caused by rigged Hezbollah communication devices last week, attacks have intensified, with Israel also hitting the Bekaa region in Eastern Lebanon.
