Man convicted of 1990 murder of Hanne With

After 34 years, Copenhagen City Court has convicted Henrik Krogh Rasmussen for the 1990 murder of 23-year-old Hanne With, sentencing him to 11 years and six months in prison. The courts emphasized that his DNA and footprint were found at the crime scene and that he had not provided a plausible explanation. With was brutally killed in her apartment on New Year’s Eve, found with multiple stab wounds and strangled with an antenna cable. Despite a long absence of suspects, a breakthrough occurred in 2023 with the use of familial DNA searching, leading to Rasmussen’s arrest after finding his son in the DNA register. An identical bloody footprint on kitchen linoleum sealed the evidence. Rasmussen, denying guilt, cited his intoxication and memory loss from the night of the murder. The court has considered it a supplemental sentence, taking into account that Rasmussen had already been convicted for other crimes post-murder. He is contemplating an appeal.
