NATO to supply five Air defense units to Ukraine
President Joe Biden announced that the US, along with Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, and Italy, will donate five strategic air defense systems to Ukraine during NATO’s 75th-anniversary event. Ukraine’s request for seven Patriot missile systems to counter Russian strikes had not been fully met, with only two delivered previously. Now, the US is set to provide one Patriot system, Germany and Romania two, Holland and partners one, and Italy a SAMP-T system. Additionally, the White House stated that the U.S. will prioritize Ukraine for dozens of tactical air defense systems such as NASAMS and HAWK. Biden affirmed a global coalition aiding Ukraine with varied arms, including tanks and long-range missiles. NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg stressed that NATO’s support aims for Ukrainian victory and cannot allow Russian forces to succeed.
