The German sea rescue service said a dead sailor had been pulled out of the sea while two missing people were rescued alive after two cargo ships collided in the North Sea Tuesday. Four more sailors are missing. One of the ships, a British freighter, sank after the collision. The two ships – the British ship “Verity” and the ship “Polesie”, registered in the Bahamas – collided 22 kilometres southwest of the island of Helgoland and 31 kilometres northeast of the island of Langeoog. The two bulk carriers collided at 05:00 on Tuesday morning. The Polesie”, which has 22 people on board, is still afloat, while the collision has caused the “Verity” to sink. /ritzau/
