Strike at PostNord delays mail for days
Employees at PostNord’s letter terminal in Taastrup ceased work on Wednesday evening, as announced in a brief statement on the company’s website on Thursday. Communications Director Andreas Brethvad confirmed the unauthorized strike will cause mail delivery delays over the coming days. PostNord and the 3F union urged workers to resume work. Union representative John Ekebjærg-Jakobsen commented on advising against such actions and promising to seek clarity from PostNord and the transport minister about the future of mail in Denmark. The workers expressed their need for job security and potential training plans if jobs are not secure. This incident comes after a decline in mailed letters, with a 28% drop compared to the previous year, following the repeal of Denmark’s postal obligation on January 1, 2024.
