Experts recommend AI-assisted exams

An expert group suggests future exams to include both AI-assisted and non-assisted formats, as stated by the Danish Ministry of Children and Education. The recommendations target primary, youth, and adult education exams. Education minister Mattias Tesfaye emphasizes embracing digital development while ensuring students are capable without AI tools, which he deems necessary to assess their independent knowledge and skills. The group, led by independent consultant and former chair of Danske Gymnasier Birgitte Vedersø, aims to prevent cheating and ensure students critically engage with technology. The shift requires new examination types that focus more on learning, possibly through project work or portfolios. The Danish Association of High School Students welcomes the inclusion of digital aids in exams, with spokesperson Asger Kjær Sørensen stressing the importance of AI education.
