47 people have been buried under a landslide in the southwestern Chinese province of Yunnan Monday morning, Chinese state media, reported. State broadcaster CCTV said 18 homes had been buried in the landslide. More than 200 people have been evacuated from the region, according to CCTV. The media reports that authorities have launched a rescue operation involving 200 rescue workers, dozens of fire engines, and other equipment. State news agency Xinhua said the number of villagers buried in the landslide was “unknown”. Photos shared on social media by a local TV channel show rescue workers in orange suits and helmets lined up outside a fire station as snow falls. Authorities did not immediately say whether anyone had died in the landslide. /ritzau/AFP
