A meeting in Beijing between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping appears to be in the offing. The Russian government confirmed on Tuesday that it was preparing a bilateral meeting and that it would provide more details at an appropriate time. Bloomberg writes that Putin is preparing for a China visit in October in connection with a meeting on the Chinese Silk Road project. Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said: “A timetable for bilateral Russian-Chinese contacts at several levels, including at the highest level, is being coordinated. We will inform you of special events and deadlines at an appropriate time”. Xi visited Putin in Moscow in March. /ritzau/
