Clever plans major investment on charging points
The Clever company is to bring forward its investments so that this year alone it invests more than a billion kroner in new charging points for electric cars. The company’s CEO, Casper Kirketerp-Møller, informs Børsen. “This is important if we are to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles,” he says. The announcement comes in response to the fact that sales of electric cars in Denmark really took off last year. During the year, the 200,000th electric car was registered.
The billion-kroner investment will lead to 15,000 new publicly accessible charging points. Clever has already set up more than 30,000 public stands. In addition, there are the charging stations that are located at people’s private homes. According to the CEO, the biggest obstacle to choosing an electric car has been the charging infrastructure. More chargers must therefore contribute to damaging security.
Casper Kirketerp-Møller has paid particular attention to the fact that the 34 percent of Danes who live in apartment buildings only account for 15 percent of electric car sales. This is due to a lack of charging facilities at apartment buildings, he believes. Therefore, one of the focal points of the company’s investment plan for this year will be the cities. /ritzau/
