A strong earthquake hit Colombia’s capital, Bogotá, on Thursday evening Danish time. According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake measured at 6.3. According to Reuters the quake caused people to flee offices and restaurants. “It was powerful and it lasted a very long time. It makes me feel fragile. Life changes in a second. You can’t do anything but run for your life,” said a 43-year-old eyewitness. AFP quoted Colombia’s geological service as saying the earthquake was 6.1 and followed by an aftershock of 5.9. The quakes had their epicenter in El Calvario in central Colombia, 40 kilometers from Bogotá. In the capital, buildings were swaying and thousands of people took to the streets for safety. Sirens were activated across the city. /ritzau/
