COP28: Prime Minister says DK to contribute DKK 175m
Denmark will contribute a total of DKK 175 million to the new climate fund, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said in connection with the UN climate summit COP28 in the United Arab Emirates. The Climate Fund will pay for climate damage in countries affected by climate change. Earlier on Thursday, the world’s countries agreed on the terms of a climate fund for loss and damage to the world’s poor countries (See below). In total, Denmark will support the most climate-vulnerable countries with DKK 350 million. In addition to the climate fund, the government supports “other projects regarding loss and damage” according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For example, a project to help with access to early warning systems for everyone by 2027. “We are some of the ones who have emitted the most. The immediate consequences of climate change are most felt in the countries where the population emits the least,” Frederiksen told Information. /ritzau/
