Copenhagen Airport almost back to normal
Copenhagen Airport was probably one of the places in Denmark where Covid lockdowns hurt the most. But Tuesday’s quarterly report from the airport company shows that passenger numbers in Kastrup are close to being back to normal. Management now expects that 26.5 million passengers will have used the airport by the end of the year, which is just under four million fewer than in the record year 2018. “You could say that we are closer to having a normal airport operation. And within the next few years, we expect to pass the pre-corona level, and we are certainly pleased about that,” says acting CEO Christian Poulsen. In particular, he points to two factors that can lift operations the final stretch on the way to a new record year. “SAS is our biggest customer with about a third of the traffic, so when things are going well for them, things are going well for the airport.” But also the return of Asian passengers, who remain reluctant to leave, will contribute significantly to the operation and pursuit of the record. /ritzau/
