A large group of countries agreed on Tuesday to collect 85 billion kroner to protect and restore coral reefs worldwide, writes AFP. The decision has been announced by 45 countries, which together control three-quarters of the world’s coral reefs. The resolution includes a promise that an area of 60,000 square kilometres of protected coral reefs will be doubled. This corresponds to an area three times the size of Denmark. In addition, a coral reef of about 10,500 square kilometers needs to be restored. The amount to ensure the restoration must come through investments from public and private by 2030./ritzau/
