Police seek journalists’ audio in drug case

The Copenhagen City Court has rejected the National Special Crimes Unit’s (NSK) request for journalists Carsten Norton and Kristoffer Eriksen to surrender an audio recording from their podcast ‘Banderelateret.’ The audio features a statement from a suspect involved in a case concerning 234 kilos of cocaine. NSK appealed the ruling to the high court. The journalists refuse to release the file, citing source protection. The man on the tape, affiliated with the gang Loyal To Familia (LTF), claims to have left LTF and Denmark five years prior and is supposedly in Dubai. The court’s dismissal hinges on the prosecution not proving the recording’s crucial significance to the case, with details withheld under a gag rule. Attorney Vibeke Borberg defended the podcast producer’s right to protect their sources.
