Norwegian improves in filling planes

Despite reducing passenger capacity in January, Norwegian managed to increase the number of passengers it flew to 1.138 million, a 1% increase from the same month last year, with a 3% lower capacity. Consequently, the load factor rose by 5.4 percentage points to 83.1%. Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian, mentioned the high demand for beach destinations, with many customers preferring the warmer Mediterranean climate. Luftfartsanalytiker Jacob Pedersen from Sydbank observed significant growth in revenue per kilometer flown compared to the previous year, indicating more efficient capacity management leading to fuller flights and considerably higher ticket prices. Pedersen suggests Norwegian’s cautious market approach may benefit SAS but also implies that lower ticket prices should not be expected for the summer.
