Mette F. recognizes impatient businesses but sees no quick fix

Europe’s competitiveness is declining, struggling to keep up with China and the US in terms of growth. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen acknowledged the issue following an EU summit, recognizing the business sector’s impatience for faster solutions. However, she pointed out that there are no shortcuts to improving competition within the EU internal market. Efforts are being made to identify and remove barriers within the EU, as demanded by the Danish business community. A discussion among leaders was prompted by a detailed report from former Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta, outlining bleak prospects for Europe’s economy and stressing the urgency to catch up with the US’s growth to ensure prosperity and job creation in Europe.
