Early Easter boosts SAS passenger count
In March, Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) carried over two million passengers, marking a nearly 5% increase compared to the previous year. The key difference is the occurrence of Easter in March this year, compared to April last year, a period when more people travel. SAS CEO Anko van der Werff expressed satisfaction with surpassing the two million passenger milestone. Additionally, a significant development for SAS in March was the approval of their restructuring plan by a US court, which is expected to include agreements with creditors and new investors. Since 2022, SAS has been protected from immediate debt repayments under the US Chapter 11 bankruptcy process while restructuring. Despite this progress, Jacob Pedersen of Sydbank notes that SAS is still far behind its competitors, although he acknowledges the improvement the Easter season brought to the airline.
