Police fatal shooting case dropped
The regional public prosecutor in Viborg has dropped the case against a police officer who fatally shot a 32-year-old man on October 28 last year in Holstebro. Vicestatsadvokat Karin Jønler stated to TV Midtvest that there is not enough basis for criminal charges against the officer. The incident occurred in the afternoon near central Holstebro, following reports of gunfire. After being shot, the man received first aid and was airlifted to a hospital but later died. There was no indication of terrorism or any ties to organized crime. After the Independent Police Complaints Authority submitted a report, the prosecutor decided to close the case. Nonetheless, the man’s family is dissatisfied with the decision and plans to appeal.
