Court rejects bias plea in Sanjay Shah case

The court in Glostrup has dismissed the request for new judges to assess whether the case against financier Sanjay Shah should be abandoned. Shah’s defense argues that he has been prejudged and has previously been denied dismissal by both the city court and the high court. The current judges, who denied the previous request last year, have been questioned regarding their ability to reconsider the matter, but the court found no issue with it. Shah is accused of defrauding nine billion kroner in dividend tax refunds but maintains his innocence, insisting he only exploited a loophole in Danish law. The special prosecutor can thus continue presenting the case, while a reversal by the high court could lead to the case starting over. A decision from the high court is expected within one to two weeks according to defense lawyer Kåre Pihlmann.
