Arla to cut 160 jobs at milk powder plant

Arla Foods is laying off 160 employees at its Arinco milk powder factory in Videbæk, West Jutland, which includes infant formula production. The company plans to cease powder production in Videbæk in one and a half years and transfer operations to the French cooperative Sodiaal. While expressing the difficulties of this decision and the aim to retain as much talent as possible through retraining and further education, Jonas Barfoed, a spokesperson for Arla, acknowledged the inevitability of layoffs. Vice Group Director of AFI, Luis Cubel, mentioned that the ingredient business AFI will now focus more on transforming whey into high-value ingredients. Arla intends to boost the production of these ingredients as part of its growth strategy, aiming to reinforce its leading position in the global ingredients market. Currently, there are 320 employees at the Arinco factory.
