Hamas: International aid workers killed in Israeli strike
At least five World Central Kitchen (WCK) aid workers were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Deir al-Balah, Gaza Strip, on Monday night, according to the media office of the Hamas government, Reuters reports. The victims included citizens from Poland, Australia, and the United Kingdom, as well as one Palestinian. WCK acknowledged the reports of the attack on social media, emphasizing that aid workers and civilians should never be targeted. José Andrés, head of WCK, confirmed the deaths, mourning their loss and calling on the Israeli government to cease such attacks. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are investigating the incident and have initiated a thorough inquiry, stressing their efforts to safely deliver humanitarian aid and work with WCK to provide food and assistance to the people of Gaza. WCK has distributed over 42 million meals in Gaza Strip over 175 days last month and is known for providing food aid in disaster-hit areas globally.
