Asian and African Interns Replace Ukrainians in Danish Farms
The war in Ukraine has led to a dramatic decline in Ukrainian farm interns in Denmark, decreasing from over 1,000 per year to only 35 last year, reports DR. Ukrainian men are being conscripted, and women’s education is disrupted. Consequently, Danish farmers are turning to Asian and African interns, with numbers from Vietnam, Uganda, and India significantly rising. Vice chair of Landbrug & Fødevarer, Lone Andersen, anticipates a long wait for Ukrainian interns’ return as they’ll be busy rebuilding their own agriculture post-war.
