Jussi Adler-Olsen earns millions from writing

Danish crime writer Jussi Adler-Olsen continues to reap millions from his books through his company Adlerolsen.dep, earning 13.5 million Danish kroner after tax in 2023. The previous year, the company’s profit was 6.9 million kroner. Adler-Olsen, famous for the ‘Department Q’ series featuring investigator Carl Mørck, released the final book in the series in 2023, sixteen years after the first book debuted. He owns the company outright, which has accrued a capital of 113 million kroner. His works, published in Denmark by Politikens Forlag, are sold in over 40 countries and translated into many languages. Five books from the series have been adapted into films, with the latest film, ‘The Marco Effect’, featuring Ulrich Thomsen as Mørck, replacing Nikolaj Lie Kaas. Netflix is also working on an English-language TV series based on his works.
