Four killed in Georgia school shooting

Four individuals were killed and nine injured in a school shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, on Wednesday, according to the FBI’s Georgia division. Initial reports had mentioned about 30 injured, but this was not officially confirmed. The victims included two students and two teachers. The shooting was reported at 10:23 local time, with control regained by midday. The suspect, a 14-year-old student from the school, has been arrested. The motive remains unclear, and Sheriff Jud Smith requested patience for the investigation. Images showed many emergency vehicles on site. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp called for state resources and prayers for classroom safety. President Joe Biden has been briefed about the incident. The FBI is assisting local police, and this incident adds to the hundreds of school shootings the U.S. has experienced over recent decades.
