Christiania to transform Pusher Street with 85M DKK

A plan, backed by Fonden Fristaden Christiania, the Municipality of Copenhagen, and the state, outlines an 85 million Danish kroner transformation of Christiania’s Pusher Street. The funds will be allocated towards creating play areas, gardens, and establishing the site as a hub for creative expression. According to spokesperson Hulda Mader, enhancements will include a museum, shops, eateries, cafes, and artistic elements, aiming to appeal to a broader audience. The infamous street, long associated with cannabis trade, has been dug up as residents and politicians strive to alter its reputation. Future proposals include a ‘repair cafe,’ a second-hand store, and possibly a new name, ‘Galaksevej,’ though this remains undecided. The project is expected to be completed by 2025.
