Students face disciplinary action after occupying KU

The University of Copenhagen students may face consequences for barricading one of the university’s buildings, according to prorector Kristian Cedervall Lauta. The group ‘Students Against the Occupation’ occupied the building, which includes the rector’s office, to protest KU’s ties with Israeli universities. Police swiftly intervened, arresting six protesters for trespassing. The prorector noted that disciplinary actions will be taken if any KU students were involved. Spokesperson Asger Trier Kjær stated that their movement, consisting of KU students, seeks dialogue with the university on decisions they find objectionable, including academic collaborations with Israeli institutions. Prior protests have led to KU divesting from companies active in the West Bank.
